Denise Godinho Costa is a Brazilian director, producer, and screenwriter. She is best known for her work on the award-winning films “O Silêncio do Céu” (The Silence of Heaven, 2016) and “Estrela Solitária” (Lonely Star, 2019).

Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1982, Denise was raised in a traditional Catholic family. From a young age, she was captivated by the power of storytelling and the impact of cinema. She studied film at the University of Campinas, and started her career as an assistant director for television series.

In 2015, Denise wrote and directed her first feature film, “O Silêncio do Céu”. The film tells the story of a young woman struggling with faith and identity in a small Brazilian town. It won numerous awards and was nominated for numerous others, including Best Picture at the Brazilian Academy Awards.

In 2019, Denise wrote and directed her second feature film, “Estrela Solitária”. The film follows a young girl from a poor Brazilian family as she struggles to make it in the big city. The film won several awards, including Best Picture at the Brazilian Academy Awards.

Denise is passionate about creating films that explore the human condition. Her films are often set in small Brazilian towns and feature strong female characters. She is an advocate for diversity in film and television, and she is currently working on a new project that will explore the relationship between women and nature.
