Del Palmer is an English musician, producer, and engineer best known for his work with the band Kate Bush. Born in 1958 in London, England, Palmer began playing guitar and bass in bands during his teenage years. He eventually became part of a band called the Kestrels, which featured future members of both the Eurythmics and the Psychedelic Furs.

In 1978, Palmer was hired to play bass for Kate Bush’s tour in support of her second album, Lionheart. Though his tenure with Bush’s backing band was brief, it was enough to make an impression and launch a long and fruitful association between Palmer and Bush.

In 1982, Palmer co-produced the single “Sat in Your Lap” with Bush, and the two went on to co-produce her next four albums. As part of their collaboration, Palmer wrote and arranged several songs for Bush, including “The Big Sky” and “Walk Straight Down the Middle.”

In addition to working with Bush, Palmer has also worked as a producer and engineer with other artists such as Simple Minds, Anni-Frid Lyngstad, Robin Gibb, and the Buddha of Suburbia soundtrack.

In 2005, Palmer released his first solo album, The Garden of Love. The album was a mix of original compositions and reworkings of traditional folk songs.

In addition to his music career, Palmer is also a qualified engineer and has worked on numerous engineering and production projects for various artists.

Throughout his career, Palmer has maintained a close relationship with Kate Bush, and the two have collaborated on numerous projects. In 2008, he acted as her musical director for her comeback tour, and in 2011, they collaborated on the album 50 Words for Snow.

Palmer is a highly respected musician and producer, and his work has been recognized and praised by both critics and fans alike. He continues to work in the music industry, producing and engineering records for various artists.
