Deepak Nayar is an Indian film producer, actor and director. He is well known for his work in both Hindi and Tamil films.

Nayar was born in Mumbai, India and attended St. Xavier’s College in Mumbai. He later graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India. He has produced and directed several films and has acted in several films.

Nayar has worked with and collaborated with some of India’s most prestigious filmmakers. He has worked with acclaimed directors like Satyajit Ray, Shyam Benegal, Ram Gopal Verma, Mani Ratnam, and Vidhu Vinod Chopra, amongst others.

Nayar's first film as a producer was the critically acclaimed 'Aakrosh' (1980), starring Naseeruddin Shah, Om Puri, and Amrish Puri. He went on to produce other successful films like 'Khamoshi' (1996), 'Hum Ho Gaye Aapke' (2001), and 'Saaya' (2003).

He has also produced several Tamil films, including 'Kattradhu Thamizh' (2007), 'Manam Kothi Paravai' (2012), and 'Kakka Muttai' (2015).

Nayar's first venture into acting was in the film 'Shyam Benegal’s 'Zubeidaa' (2001). He went on to act in several other films like 'Hum Ho Gaye Aapke' (2001), 'Dil Chahta Hai' (2001), 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' (2001), and 'Kya Kehna' (2000).

Nayar has also directed two films, 'Chalo America' (1999) and 'My Bollywood Bride' (2006).

Nayar is an active member of the Indian film industry and continues to produce and direct films. He is known for his passion for filmmaking and his commitment to making quality films. He has been honoured with numerous awards, including the National Award for Best Producer for 'Aakrosh' (1980).
