David Romero is a Spanish film director, screenwriter, and producer best known for his work in the horror and fantasy genres. Romero was born in Madrid, Spain in 1965 and grew up in a family of passionate film fans. His father was an avid moviegoer and his mother was a photographer.

Romero's love for the cinema began at a young age, and he began making short films at the age of thirteen. He studied filmmaking at the Escuela Superior de Cine y Audiovisuales in Madrid, where he received his degree in 1988.

After graduating from film school, Romero began working as a television director for a variety of television series and movies. His big break came in 1995 when he directed the horror film “The Dark”, which received critical acclaim. The film was a huge success and established Romero as a talented filmmaker.

In 2000, Romero wrote and directed his first feature-length film, “The Devil’s Backbone”. The film was nominated for several major awards, including a Goya Award for Best Director. The film was also a critical success and established Romero’s reputation as a director of horror and fantasy films.

Romero is also known for his work as a producer. He has produced films such as “The Orphanage” (2007) and “Julia’s Eyes” (2010).

In recent years, Romero has branched out and has directed a number of television series. He directed the first season of the series “The Strain” (2014-2015) and the horror anthology series “Tales from the Crypt” (2017).
