Dave Attell is an American stand-up comedian, actor, and writer. He is best known for his work on the television show Insomniac with Dave Attell and his appearances on Comedy Central's Chappelle's Show, and for his roles on the sketch comedy show Saturday Night Live.

Attell was born in Queens, New York, on February 5, 1965. He attended New York University and majored in Film and Television. After graduating, Attell moved to Los Angeles to pursue stand-up comedy. He quickly developed a cult following in the Los Angeles comedy scene, performing regularly at The Comedy Store and other clubs.

In 2001, Attell got his big break when he was tapped to host the Comedy Central show Insomniac with Dave Attell. The show featured Attell travelling to various cities across the United States, visiting unusual and strange places while performing stand-up comedy. The show was a hit and earned Attell a CableACE Award for Best Host or Performer in a Cable Program.

In 2003, Attell made his debut on the iconic comedy show Chappelle's Show, appearing in a number of sketches and as a recurring character called "The Hate Tank". His appearances helped to make the show one of the highest-rated programs in Comedy Central's history.

Attell has also appeared as a guest on various late-night talk shows, including The Late Show with David Letterman and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. He was a regular guest host on The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson and was a writer for Saturday Night Live from 1997 to 1998.

Attell has released a number of comedy specials and albums, including Skanks For The Memories (2004), Captain Miserable (2007), and Road Work (2014). He has also appeared in a number of feature films, including Pootie Tang (2001) and Scary Movie 4 (2006).

Attell is known for his sharp wit and irreverent style, and continues to be one of the most sought-after stand-up comedians in the business. He currently lives in New York City and continues to tour the world performing stand-up comedy.
