Darren Wharton is an Irish actor, singer, songwriter, and producer. He is best known for being the keyboardist and vocalist for the hard rock band, Thin Lizzy. He is also the founder and frontman of the group Dare.

Darren Wharton was born in Dublin, Ireland, and grew up in Finglas. He started playing piano at the age of five. Wharton went on to study classical music at the Royal Irish Academy of Music in Dublin.

In 1979, Wharton joined Thin Lizzy, replacing the previous keyboardist. He played on the album Chinatown, and contributed keyboard solos to the songs "Sugar Blues" and "Fool's Gold." He also contributed to the songwriting on the following album, Renegade.

Wharton left Thin Lizzy in 1982 to form his own band, Dare. The band released their debut album Out of the Silence in 1988. The album was a hit and reached number 6 on the UK album charts. The single "Abandon" also reached number 8 on the UK singles chart.

Wharton continued to tour and record with Dare until 1998, when he decided to focus on his solo career. He released his first solo album, Into the Light, in 2003. The album featured the single "The Time Has Come" which reached number 25 on the UK singles chart.

In recent years, Wharton has been involved in various musical projects. He has recorded and toured with the reformed Thin Lizzy, and has produced and written songs for other artists.

Wharton is a versatile musician and has worked in many genres, including rock, pop, classical, jazz, and folk. He has collaborated with many notable artists, including Steve Vai, Gary Moore, and Bruce Dickinson.

Wharton is a highly respected musician and has been credited with helping to shape the sound of Thin Lizzy and Dare. He continues to write and record music and tour with various bands.
