Danielle Pletka is an American actress and producer. She is best known for her roles in the television series “The West Wing” and “Homeland.”

Pletka was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She attended the University of Pennsylvania and then the Yale School of Drama. After graduating, she moved to New York City and started her career in theater, performing in plays such as “Love’s Labour’s Lost,” “Romeo and Juliet,” and “Cymbeline.”

In 2000, Pletka made her television debut on the hit drama series “The West Wing,” playing the role of the First Lady’s aide. She went on to appear in a number of other TV shows, including “CSI: Miami,” “Law & Order: SVU,” and “Numb3rs.”

Pletka’s big break came in 2011 when she was cast in the role of Saul Berenson’s assistant, Carrie Mathison, on the hit Showtime series “Homeland.” She was nominated for three Primetime Emmy Awards for her work on the show, and won a Critics’ Choice Award in 2012.

In addition to her television work, Pletka has appeared in a number of films, including “The Stepfather,” “The Switch,” and “Killing Kennedy.” She also produced the short film “The Cleaners,” which was an official selection of the Tribeca Film Festival.

Outside of her acting and producing career, Pletka is an active advocate for women’s rights and a supporter of the Time’s Up movement. She also serves on the Board of Directors for the Young Women’s Leadership Network, which works to empower young women to become leaders in their communities.

Pletka continues to work in both television and film. She is currently producing a new series for HBO and is set to appear in the upcoming film “The Nightingale.” She is also a frequent guest on a number of talk shows and red carpets.
