Dan Sonney is a renowned American actor, known for his roles in such films as The Godfather Part II, The People vs. Larry Flynt, and The Shawshank Redemption. He was born in The Bronx, New York on July 19, 1945.

Sonney began his acting career in the early 1970s, appearing in several stage productions in New York City. His first major film role came in 1973 with The Godfather Part II. He was cast as the young Vito Corleone, the father of Michael Corleone, played by Al Pacino. The role earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.

Sonney followed up his success with a number of notable roles in the 1970s and early 1980s. He played a supporting role in The People vs. Larry Flynt (1996), for which he received an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actor.
