BIO

Dan Rees is an award-winning director, animator, and visual effects artist. He has created work for a variety of clients and platforms, from feature films to television commercials.

Rees was born in London in 1981. He studied animation and visual effects at Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication, graduating in 2002. After college, Rees worked for several animation companies, where he honed his skills and began to develop his unique style.

In 2007, Rees founded his own animation and visual effects studio, ‘Organic Pictures’. He has since created a number of successful projects, including music videos, television commercials, and short films. His work has been featured in festivals around the world, including the Sundance Film Festival, the Edinburgh International Film Festival, and the Annecy International Animation Film Festival.

Rees has been recognized for his work with numerous awards, including a BAFTA, an RTS Award, and a Creative Arts Emmy. He has also been nominated for a Cannes Lion Award and an Annie Award.

Rees’s work is known for its inventive visual style and its ability to capture emotion. His films often explore themes of love, loss, and identity. He is also a passionate advocate for diversity in the animation industry, having worked with a variety of talented artists from different backgrounds.

Outside of filmmaking, Rees is an avid reader and collector of vintage vinyl records. He is also a passionate supporter of animal welfare, and regularly donates to animal charities.

Rees is currently working on a number of projects, including a feature film and a virtual reality experience. He also continues to teach animation and visual effects at Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication.
