Dan Harris is an American actor, comedian, and writer best known for his roles as Charlie in "Doogie Howser, M.D.", as well as the voice of the character of Mike in the "Toy Story" films. He was born on July 15, 1967 in East Brunswick, New Jersey.

He was raised in a Jewish family and attended East Brunswick High School, where he was a member of the school's drama club. After graduating in 1985, Harris attended New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where he majored in theater studies.

Harris made his acting debut in 1989 with a small role in the TV movie "Perfect Harmony." He then went on to appear in a number of television shows, including "Family Ties," "My So-Called Life," "Friends," and "The West Wing."

In 1989, Harris landed the role of "Doogie Howser, M.D.", a teenage doctor navigating the world of medicine and his own personal life. He starred in the show for four seasons, from 1989 to 1993. Following its end, Harris appeared in a number of films, including "As Good as It Gets" and "The Third Miracle."

In 1995, Harris voiced Mike, the lead toy character in the first "Toy Story" film. He reprised the role in the two sequels, "Toy Story 2" and "Toy Story 3." Harris also appeared in the "X-Men" films as Senator Robert Kelly, a role he would reprise in 2011's "X-Men: First Class."

Harris has also had success as a writer. He co-wrote the screenplay for "The Third Miracle" in 1999 and wrote the screenplay for the 2004 romantic comedy "A Lot Like Love." In 2013, Harris wrote the book "10% Happier: How I Tamed the Voice in My Head, Reduced Stress Without Losing My Edge, and Found Self-Help That Actually Works."

Harris continues to appear in both television and film roles. His recent credits include "The Family Stone," "The Good Wife," and "The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel." He is currently filming the upcoming Netflix series, "Space Force."

Harris has been married to actress and director Anne Heche since 2001. The couple has two sons together. Harris is also an avid yoga practitioner and a vocal advocate for mindfulness and meditation.
