Daikaku Chôdôin was a Japanese actor, stage director, and theatrical producer. He is best known for his performances in period dramas and films of the late 20th and early 21st centuries.

Born in Tokyo in 1953, Chôdôin attended the Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. While there, he became involved in the theatre, and after graduating he joined the Tokyo Actor's Troupe. It was here that he developed his skills as an actor, director and producer, and it was here that he began to receive recognition for his work.

In the 1980s, Chôdôin began to appear in films, most notably in the popular television series "Kita no Kuni kara" and "Sakurano Kuronoke". His performances in these shows earned him a great deal of recognition and he quickly became a household name. In the early 1990s, Chôdôin began to appear in period dramas, such as "Taiheiki" and "Gokuraku Chikashitsu". In 2001, he was awarded the Japan Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance in "Gokusen". He has also been the recipient of numerous other awards, including the Japan Academy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Acting and the Kinokuniya Award for Best Supporting Actor.
