Cynthia Hill is a director and producer whose work has earned numerous awards and recognition, including a Peabody, an Emmy, and a DuPont-Columbia Award. Hill has worked in documentary filmmaking for more than 20 years, focusing on stories that highlight the struggles and successes of individuals in our society.

Hill has a Bachelor of Arts in communication from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Fine Arts in film and television production from the University of Southern California. After graduating from USC, Hill worked as a freelance editor and assistant director on various television shows, including The Shield and the documentary series 30 Days.

In 2011, Hill co-directed A Chef’s Life, an acclaimed series about Chef Vivian Howard’s journey to modernize Southern cooking. Hill executive produced the series, which won a Peabody Award in 2014. The series was also nominated for an Emmy Award.

In 2017, Hill released Private Violence, a documentary about domestic violence survivors and their fight to end the cycle of domestic abuse. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and was nominated for a duPont-Columbia Award.
