BIO

Cristian Motiu is a Romanian actor and producer who has worked in television, film, and theater. Born on June 1, 1982, in Bucharest, Romania, he attended the National University of Drama and Film in Bucharest, graduating in 2003.

Motiu first began his acting career in 2005, with a small role in the film The Way I Spent the End of the World. Since then, he has become a well-known actor in Romania, appearing in numerous films, television shows, and plays. Some of his most notable film roles include The Autobiography of Nicolae Ceausescu, which was co-directed by his brother, Claudiu Motiu; Beyond the Hills; and Graduation. His television credits include roles on shows such as Las Fierbinti, Tango, and The Whispers.

In addition to acting, Motiu has also produced several films, including The Autobiography of Nicolae Ceausescu and Radu Jude’s Aferim!. In 2014, he founded the production company 4 Proof Film, and has since produced several films in collaboration with companies such as HBO Romania and Netflix.

Motiu has won several awards for his acting, including a Best Actor award at the Transylvania International Film Festival for his role in Aferim! and a Best Supporting Actor award at the Transilvania International Film Festival for his role in Beyond the Hills.

Aside from acting and producing, Motiu is also passionate about teaching. He has taught acting classes at the National University of Drama and Film in Bucharest since 2013. In 2018, he became the artistic director of the theater group Metropolis.
