Corinna Belz is a German director and screenwriter, best known for her documentary films. She was born in 1966 in Lüneburg, Germany. She studied cultural sciences in Hamburg and Paris, and then went on to do her post-graduate studies in cinema and television at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne.

Belz began her directing career in 1996 with her first short film, “Morgen.” She continued to make short films, but her first feature-length documentary, "Gorillas in the Mist: The Story of Dian Fossey," was released in 1998. The film was well-received and won numerous awards, including the German Film Award for Best Documentary.

Her next film, "The Heavens Above Us" (2002), was a documentary about a young Jewish girl's experience of living in the Nazi concentration camps. This film was also critically acclaimed and won the German Film Award for Best Documentary.

In 2004, Belz directed her first feature-length fiction film, "The Ninth Day," which was based on a true story of a Catholic priest's imprisonment in a concentration camp. The film was highly praised and won multiple awards, including the German Film Award for Best Feature Film.

In 2006, Belz released her second feature-length documentary, "Shadow of the Holy Book," which focused on a group of Christian scholars who were studying the Bible in the Middle East. The film won multiple awards, including the German Film Award for Best Documentary.

In 2012, Belz released her third feature-length documentary, "The Garden," which focused on the life of a middle-class German family living in a housing project. The film won the German Film Award for Best Documentary.

Belz has also directed several television films, including "The Little Girl with the Big Voice" (2008), which won the German Film Award for Best Television Film, and "The Life of the Soul" (2009).

Belz is a highly respected director and is known for her unique and thought-provoking films.
