BIO

Corey Landis is a writer, producer and director from Los Angeles, California. He is best known for his work on films such as the critically acclaimed “Eighth Grade” and “The Social Network.”

Landis was born in 1984 in Los Angeles to parents of Jewish descent. His early years were spent writing original screenplays and shooting short films with his friends. He was accepted into the University of Southern California School of Cinematic Arts and graduated with a degree in film production in 2007.

Landis first gained recognition with his 2009 short film “Punching a Hole in the Darkness,” which won the Grand Jury Prize at the Los Angeles Film Festival. He also directed the feature film “The Wackness” which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and earned him a nomination for the Independent Spirit John Cassavetes Award.

In 2010, Landis directed the critically acclaimed film “Eighth Grade” which was nominated for a Golden Globe and won two Independent Spirit Awards. The film tells the story of a thirteen-year-old girl navigating her way through the last week of middle school.

Landis continued his success with his next project, the 2011 thriller “The Social Network.” The film follows the creation of the popular social networking website Facebook and was nominated for eight Academy Awards, winning three. In 2012, Landis was nominated for an MTV Movie Award for Best Film.

In addition to his work in film, Landis has also written for television. He wrote and directed several episodes of the Showtime series “The Big C” and wrote for the HBO series “Entourage.”

Corey Landis continues to write and direct films and television shows. He is currently in pre-production on his next feature film, “The Summer I Turned 16,” which is set to begin filming in 2019. His work has been praised for its honest and authentic portrayal of characters and his ability to capture the human experience.
