Congressman Joe Crowley is an American politician who has served as a member of the United States House of Representatives for New York's 14th congressional district since 1999. He is the Chair of the House Democratic Caucus, making him the fourth-ranking Democrat in the House of Representatives leadership.

Crowley was born on March 16, 1962, in New York City. He graduated from Queens College in 1984 with a degree in political science.

In 1986, Crowley was elected to the New York State Assembly, representing the 29th Assembly District in Queens. He served as a member of the Assembly for the next 13 years, becoming the Assembly Majority Leader in 1994. During his tenure in the Assembly, he was an advocate for environmental protection, tenants rights, and education reform.

In 1998, Crowley ran for and was elected to the United States House of Representatives, representing New York's 7th congressional district. He was re-elected in 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014, and 2016.

In the House of Representatives, Crowley has served on the Appropriations Committee, the Financial Services Committee, the Ways and Means Committee, the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee, and the House Democratic Leadership. He is currently the Chair of the Democratic Caucus, the fourth-ranking Democrat in the House of Representatives leadership.

In Congress, Crowley has been a strong advocate for his constituents in Queens and has fought for veterans’ rights, environmental protection, and immigration reform. He also has been a leader in the fight for economic justice for all Americans, working to make sure that everyone has access to quality health care and a living wage.
