Clay Jeter is an American director, writer, and cinematographer who has established himself as a leading figure in the independent film industry. Born in 1981 in Denton, Texas, Clay entered the film industry in 2005 as a production assistant on the independent feature, “The Great Buck Howard”.

Clay started his directing career in 2007 with the short film, “The House of Fools”, which he also wrote and shot. The film went on to win Best Short Film at the Slamdance Film Festival. In 2010, Clay directed his first feature-length film, “Jess + Moss”, which won the Grand Jury Prize at the SXSW Film Festival and was named one of the best films of the year by Roger Ebert and the Village Voice.

In 2012, Clay directed the features “In the Valley of Elah” and “First Winter”. Both films received wide critical acclaim and were featured at the Cannes Film Festival. Clay has since gone on to direct a number of critically acclaimed short films and music videos, including “The Bravest, The Boldest”, which was nominated for a Grand Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival in 2014.

Clay’s most recent feature is the 2018 drama “Skin”, which stars Jamie Bell and Danielle Macdonald. The film was an official selection of the Sundance Film Festival and won the Special Jury Award for Best Narrative Feature. Clay is currently working on a number of feature films, including “The Glass Castle”, which is set to star Brie Larson and Woody Harrelson.
