Claude Emmand is a French actor, director, and producer best known for his work in French cinema, theater, and television. He is best known for his roles in the films La Haine, Time Out, and Le Havre.

Born in Paris, France in 1961, Emmand began his career in theater. He studied at the renowned Conservatoire National Supérieur d’Art Dramatique in Paris and the International Theatre Workshop in Amsterdam. After graduating from the Conservatoire, Emmand went on to perform in classical plays such as Moliere’s Tartuffe, Racine’s Britannicus, and Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet.

Emmand made his film debut in 1995 in the film La Haine, where he played the role of Vinz, a troubled young man from the Parisian suburbs. His performance earned him a César Award nomination for Most Promising Actor.

Following his success in La Haine, Emmand went on to star in several films, including Time Out (2001), starring as a man on the verge of suicide, and Le Havre (2011), where he played a mysterious German. He also appeared in the television series Un Village Francais, for which he was nominated for a Molière Award for Best Actor.

Emmand has also directed two films, L'Enfant D'en Haut (2012) and Le Grand Jeu (2013). He has also served as a producer for several films, including La Vie D'Adèle (2013) and La Fête Des Pères (2014).

Emmand continues to work in both French and international cinema, theater, and television. He is currently starring in the Netflix series Lupin, where he plays the role of the title character’s father.

As a passionate advocate for the arts, Emmand has been involved with several charitable initiatives, including the Paris-based film festival Festival Cinéma du Monde. He is also an active member of the National Union of French Actors, where he works to promote and protect the rights of actors in France.
