Claire Lewis is an award-winning director and producer who has been making impactful films for over two decades. She is best known for her work on documentaries such as “The Final Inch” and “The Devil’s Playground”, as well as her work on feature films like “Beneath the Surface” and “The Ballad of Lefty Brown”.
Lewis was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. From a young age, she had an interest in filmmaking, and at the age of 14, she began to create her own short films. After graduating from high school, she attended the University of Southern California’s School of Cinematic Arts, where she received her Bachelor’s degree in film and television production. While at USC, Lewis was the recipient of the prestigious Robert C. Richter Award for Excellence in Directing.
After graduating, Lewis began her career directing documentaries. Her first film, “The Final Inch”, was a look at the fight against polio in India and won the Best Documentary Award at the Tribeca Film Festival. She followed this success with her next documentary, “The Devil’s Playground”, which explored the lives of young people in India struggling with addiction. Both of these films brought attention to important social issues and were widely acclaimed.
Lewis also has a successful career in feature films. Her first feature, “Beneath the Surface”, was a psychological thriller that was released in 2006. Following this, she directed the western “The Ballad of Lefty Brown”, which won the Best Narrative Feature award at the South by Southwest Film Festival in 2017.
Throughout her career, Lewis has been dedicated to telling stories that focus on the human condition and shed light on important social issues. Her films have been praised for their strong visuals and emotional depth, and she has won numerous awards for her work. Lewis is currently in production on a new feature film, “The Innocents”, which is set to be released in 2021.
