Chris McLaughlin is an English actor best known for his roles in the films “Avengers: Age of Ultron” and “Captain America: The First Avenger.” He was born in Liverpool, England, and grew up in the city’s Toxteth district. He attended the English National Ballet School, where he studied ballet, modern dance, and acting.
McLaughlin began his acting career as a child actor on British television shows like “Grange Hill” and “The Bill.” He made his feature film debut in the 2004 British independent film “The Cottage,” and his first major role was in the 2007 comedy “Run, Fatboy, Run.” He followed that with a supporting role in the 2009 British war drama “The Damned United,” and a lead role in the 2010 British horror film “Outcast.”
In 2011, McLaughlin made his American debut in the hit Marvel superhero film “Thor,” where he played the Asgardian warrior Volstagg. He reprised the role for “Thor: The Dark World” and “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” and also made appearances in “Captain America: The First Avenger” and “Avengers: Endgame.” He also appeared in the 2014 British comedy “The Inbetweeners 2” and the 2016 British drama “The Pass.”
McLaughlin has also appeared in numerous television shows, including “The Crown,” “Peaky Blinders,” “The Musketeers,” “Holby City,” and “The Missing.” In addition to his acting work, he is also an accomplished dancer, having performed in the West End production of “The Lion King.”
Outside of acting, McLaughlin is a passionate advocate for animal rights, and is a supporter of several animal welfare charities. He is also a keen traveler, and has visited many countries around the world. He is married to actress Joanna Page, with whom he has three children.
