BIO

Charlie Luxton is a British presenter, writer and award-winning architectural designer. He is best known for presenting the BBC TV series 'Homes by the Sea' and 'Build a New Life in the Country'.

Charlie was born in London in 1977 and grew up in Hampshire. He attended Winchester College before studying architecture at the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London. After graduating he worked for some of the world’s top architectural firms in London, the Middle East and the United States before setting up his own business in 2006.

Charlie is passionate about architecture and the environment. In 2009 he founded the Building with Nature Project, which aims to promote environmentally-sensitive building design and construction. He has also written and presented numerous television programmes, including the popular BBC2 series 'Homes by the Sea' and 'Build a New Life in the Country'.

Charlie is a regular contributor to Radio 4's 'The Today Programme' and 'Open Country' and has written for The Guardian, The Times, The Independent and other publications. He has also written books on architectural design, including the best-selling 'Design Your Home: A Step-By-Step Guide to Creating Your Dream Home'.

Charlie is a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts (RSA). In 2013 he was awarded the RIBA President's Award for Outstanding Services to Architecture.

Charlie has been a presenter and judge on a number of shows, including 'Grand Designs', 'The House that 100k Built', 'The Great Interior Design Challenge' and 'Money for Nothing'. He has also appeared as a guest on 'The One Show', 'BBC Breakfast' and 'Radio 4's The Today Programme'.

Charlie lives in the countryside with his family and is an avid environmental activist. He is a big supporter of sustainable building and green architecture. He also lectures at universities around the world and is a keen advocate of green building initiatives.
