Charles Todd is a British filmmaker and television director. He is best known for directing feature films such as The Woman in Black (2012) and television series such as The Crown (2016) and Outlander (2014).

Todd was born in London in 1971 and grew up in the United Kingdom. He attended Oxford University, graduating with a degree in English Literature. After university, he moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film. Todd began his career as a production assistant, working on numerous low-budget films.

In 1999, Todd made his feature film directorial debut with the British independent film ‘The Last Yellow’, which received critical acclaim. He then directed the British drama ‘The Fugitive’ in 2002, which was also well received.

Todd’s breakthrough film came with the 2012 horror film ‘The Woman in Black’, which starred Daniel Radcliffe and Ciarán Hinds. The film was a box office success and solidified Todd’s reputation as a director of quality films.

Todd’s television directing career began in 2006 with the British series ‘The Bill’. He went on to direct episodes of various series such as ‘Midsomer Murders’ and ‘Agatha Christie’s Poirot’.
