BIO

Chad Hugo is an American musician, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. He is best known as one half of the production duo The Neptunes, alongside Pharrell Williams, and for his work with N.E.R.D., Clipse, Justin Timberlake, and numerous other artists.

Born in Portsmouth, Virginia, Chad Hugo began playing music at an early age and was a fan of classic rock and pop from the '70s and '80s. He attended Old Dominion University and graduated with a degree in music technology, which set the stage for his future career in music production.

In the early '90s, Chad connected with Pharrell Williams and the two quickly began collaborating. They created a production team and began to work with local acts such as the Clipse and N.E.R.D. Their work was noticed by Arista Records who signed The Neptunes and the rest is history.

Chad and Pharrell have gone on to produce and write for some of the biggest names in the music industry, from Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake to Jay-Z and Beyonce. They have also been credited with helping to shape the sound of hip-hop, R&B, and pop music in the early 2000s.

In addition to his work with The Neptunes, Chad has released a solo album, The Hugo Files, and has scored soundtracks for films such as The Wackness and How to Make It In America. He has also collaborated with a number of other artists, including Mark Ronson, The Black Eyed Peas, and Lupe Fiasco.
