Celina Murga is an Argentine film director and screenwriter. Her career in film began in 2001 when she directed her first feature film, A Year Without Love. Since then, she has directed several successful films, including The Last Summer of La Boyita (2009) and La Novia del Desierto (2017).

Murga was born in 1982 in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She was raised in an artistic home, with her father being a sculptor and her mother a painter. From a young age, Murga was exposed to art and literature, which deeply influenced her creative style later in life.

Murga studied film at the Universidad del Cine in Buenos Aires. After graduating, she wrote and directed her first feature film, A Year Without Love, which premiered in the San Sebastián International Film Festival in 2005. The film was a critical success, leading to Murga receiving a Goya Award Nomination for Best New Director in Spain.

In 2009, Murga wrote and directed her second feature film, The Last Summer of La Boyita. The film won several awards, including the Grand Prix at the Locarno Film Festival and the Best Film Prize at the Mar del Plata Film Festival.

In 2011, Murga released her third feature film, The Fish Child. The film was a critical success, and was nominated for the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival. Murga’s fourth feature film, La Novia del Desierto, was released in 2017, and was nominated for the Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival.
