Chambers attended the University of Southern California where he earned a degree in theatre. After college, he began his career appearing in stage productions in Los Angeles and New York. He also had small parts in various television shows and movies before landing a role in the soap opera "The Young and the Restless" in 1997.

Chambers played the role of Billy Abbott, a young man who had a troubled past yet was determined to turn his life around.
