Brett Lotriet Best is a director, producer, and screenwriter who has created a diverse body of work including feature films, television series, and short films.

Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, Best studied film at the University of Cape Town. He was drawn to the medium from a young age, and was inspired by the work of filmmakers such as Alfred Hitchcock and Stanley Kubrick. After graduating, he began his career as a television editor, working on numerous television series, before making his directorial debut with the short film, “Just a Dream” in 1997.

Best then went on to direct and produce his first feature film, “The Long Walk Home”, which was released in 2001. The film was a critical success, and earned Best a nomination for Best Director at the South African Film and Television Awards.

Best followed this success by directing several award-winning short films, including “The Uninvited”, which won the Grand Jury Prize at the 2003 Durban International Film Festival.

He then returned to feature films with the comedy-drama “Love Is a Four-Letter Word”, which was released in 2006. The film was a commercial and critical success, and earned Best a nomination for Best Director at the South African Film and Television Awards.

Since then, Best has directed a number of feature films, including the 2009 romantic comedy “Loco Love”, and the 2011 drama “The End of the Line”. He has also directed several television series, including the crime drama “The Agency” and the police procedural “High Priority”.

In addition to his directing and producing work, Best has also written several feature films, including the 2010 drama “The Last Supper” and the 2013 romantic comedy “Love and Other Crimes”.
