Brett is an American actor and musician who is best known for his starring roles in films such as The Goonies, Stand By Me, and E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial.

Brett was born in Los Angeles, California in 1962. He began acting at the age of twelve, appearing in small television roles. His first major role was in the 1985 hit The Goonies, in which he played the lead character Mikey Walsh. The film was a major success and established Brett as a star.

He went on to appear in the classic coming-of-age drama Stand By Me, and Steven Spielberg's sci-fi classic E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, both of which earned him critical acclaim. He also appeared in a number of films in the 1980s and 1990s, such as The Lost Boys, Gremlins 2: The New Batch, and The Princess Bride.

Brett has also appeared in a number of television shows, including Cheers, NYPD Blue, and Beverly Hills 90210. He also starred in the television series My Two Dads from 1987 to 1990.

In addition to acting, Brett is also a musician. He is a multi-instrumentalist and has released three albums, including his debut album, I'm Here, in 1989. He has also appeared as a guest musician on albums by artists such as Frank Zappa, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Guns N' Roses.

Brett has been married twice, first to actress Jill Schoelen in 1989, and then to actress and model Siena Goines in 2002. He has two children from his first marriage.

Brett has enjoyed a long and successful career in film and television. He has won numerous awards for his work, including an Emmy Award in 1998 for his performance in the television series NYPD Blue, and a Saturn Award in 1987 for his performance in The Goonies.
