Bojana Burnac is a prominent Serbian theater and film director. Born in Belgrade in 1967, she is best known for her unusual and innovative approach to storytelling, as well as her intense and dynamic visual style.
Burnac studied film direction at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade. After graduating, she worked as an assistant director at several films and television series, before making her directorial debut in 2001 with the feature film Domino. The film was well-received and earned Burnac the title of Best Director at the 2001 Pula Film Festival.
In 2006, Burnac released her second feature film, Vratiće se rode (Homecoming), which also earned her critical acclaim. The film was a semi-autobiographical story about a Serbian family in exile. The film won several awards, including Best Film at the 2006 Küstendorf Film Festival.
After the success of Vratiće se rode, Burnac directed several other feature films, including Gori vatra (Lit Fire, 2007), produced by Serbia's national broadcaster Radio Television of Serbia, and Trči, kroz vene (Run Through Veins, 2008). Both films were highly acclaimed and received numerous awards.
Burnac has also worked as a theater director, directing several plays at the Belgrade Drama Theater and other theaters in Serbia. Her productions have been praised for their unconventional and innovative approach to storytelling.
In addition to her work as a director, Burnac is also an active member of the Serbian film community. She is a member of the Association of Serbian Film Directors and a member of the Association of European Film Directors. She has also served as a jury member at several international film festivals, including the 2008 Pula Film Festival and the 2009 Küstendorf Film Festival.
