Birdie, born Eileen Joy MacKenzie, is an American actress, best known for her work in television and films. She was born in New York City in the early 1980s to a Jamaican mother and a Scottish father.

Birdie began her career on the stage, performing in regional theatre and on Broadway. She made her Broadway debut in the musical revue Ain't Nothin' But the Blues in 1998. The show was a huge success and earned Birdie a Tony nomination.

In the early 2000s, Birdie began to make her mark on the small screen, appearing in a number of television shows such as Law & Order, CSI: Miami, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. She also appeared in the feature film Hitch, starring Will Smith.

In 2008, Birdie starred in the independent drama The Visitor, which earned her a nomination for an Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Actress.
