Billy Swan was an American singer-songwriter and musician born on 20th August 1942 in Missouri, USA. He is best known for his hit single “I Can Help”, which reached number one on the Billboard Hot Country Singles chart in 1974.

Swan grew up listening to country music, and by the time he was in his teens he was already performing in local clubs. He relocated to Nashville in the early 1970s and signed with Monument Records. His first single, “Lover Please”, was a moderate success, but it was his second single, “I Can Help”, that catapulted him to stardom. The song became a number one hit and was later certified gold for selling more than one million copies.

In the mid-1970s, Swan released several more successful singles, including “Everything’s the Same (Ain’t Nothing Changed)”, “Don’t Be Cruel”, and “You’re Gonna Need Love”. He also released two albums, “Lover Please” (1975) and “Billy Swan” (1978).
