Bertram Könighofer is an internationally acclaimed film and television director. He was born in 1968 in Vienna, Austria.

Könighofer began his career as a filmmaker at the age of 16, when he began making short films for Austrian television. After graduating from the Vienna Film Academy in 1992, he was hired as a full-time director for ORF (Austrian Broadcasting Corporation), where he directed numerous television shows and television films. During this time, he also wrote and directed several feature-length films, including the acclaimed drama Die Frau des Schmieds (The Smith's Wife).

Könighofer gained international recognition in 1998 with the release of his first feature-length film, Die Einsamkeit der Krähen (The Loneliness of the Crows). The film was a critical success, winning numerous awards, including the Austrian Film Award for Best Picture. It was also nominated for the Palme d'Or at the 1998 Cannes Film Festival.

Könighofer went on to direct a number of other feature-length films, such as Der Krieg der Worte (The War of Words) and Und plötzlich kam die Liebe (And Suddenly Love Came). He also directed the popular television series Die Könighöfer Familie (The Könighöfer Family), which ran for five seasons from 2001 to 2006.

In recent years, Könighofer has focused on directing films for children and young adults. He has directed several successful films, including the award-winning Die Abenteuer von Paddington (The Adventures of Paddington). His most recent film, Der kleine Drache Kokosnuss (The Little Dragon Coconut), was released in 2018 and was a huge box office success.

Könighofer has also directed several short films, including the acclaimed Zirkuskind (Circus Child), which was nominated for an Oscar in 2019.

In addition to his work as a filmmaker, Könighofer is also an accomplished musician and composer. He has composed the soundtracks for many of his films, as well as for several television series and films made by other directors.
