Benito Frattari is a popular Italian actor who has been active in the entertainment industry since the early 1980s. He is best known for his roles in films such as ‘La Vita e Bella’ (Life is Beautiful), ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley’, ‘The Bourne Identity’ and ‘The Da Vinci Code’.

Born in Rome in 1963, Frattari studied acting at the Academy of Performing Arts in Rome before making his acting debut in the early 1980s. His first television role was in the Italian television series ‘L’Isola di Adamo ed Eva’ (Adam and Eve's Island). He then made his film debut in the 1985 comedy ‘Il Gioco del Silenzio’ (The Silence Game), playing a young man who is caught up in a mysterious game.

In 1997, Frattari made his international breakthrough when he starred in the Italian-language film ‘La Vita e Bella’ (Life is Beautiful). The film was a huge success, earning international critical acclaim and multiple awards. Frattari was praised for his performance as the father, Guido Orefice. It was his performance in the film that propelled him into international stardom.

Since then, Frattari has gone on to star in numerous films, including ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley’, ‘The Bourne Identity’ and ‘The Da Vinci Code’. In addition to his film credits, Frattari has also appeared in numerous television shows, such as ‘Il Commissario Montalbano’, ‘Under the Tuscan Sun’, ‘The Borgias’ and ‘The Young Pope’.

In addition to his acting career, Frattari has also ventured into directing. He directed the 2002 film ‘In the Name of Love’ and the 2007 film ‘The Resurrected’. He also directed the stage production of ‘La Vita e Bella’ in 2006.

Frattari is one of the most popular and beloved actors in Italy. His performances have won him numerous awards, including the Nastro d’Argento for Best Actor and the Grolla d’Oro for Best Actor. He has also been nominated for the Golden Globe for Best Actor and the Academy Award for Best Actor.
