Benedict Wong is an English actor born in 1961 in Manchester, England. He is best known for his roles in Doctor Strange, Prometheus, and The Martian.

Wong began his career on the stage, appearing in productions at the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester. He made his film debut in 1994, appearing in the British independent movie Shopping. He followed this up with roles in The World Is Not Enough, The Brothers Grimm, and Mission: Impossible III.

Wong then began to appear in television shows, including Prime Suspect, Midsomer Murders, and Doctor Who. He also starred in the BBC miniseries, Buddha of Suburbia.

In 2016, Wong appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, portraying the role of Wong in Doctor Strange. His performance earned him critical acclaim, and he reprised his role in the sequel, Avengers: Infinity War. He also starred in Ridley Scott’s science fiction film, Prometheus.

In 2018, Wong starred in the blockbuster movie The Martian, playing the role of a Chinese mission controller. He also has roles in the independent films, Ghost Stories, and The Happy Prince.

Outside of acting, Wong is an active humanitarian. He has been involved in campaigns for the World Wildlife Fund and Amnesty International. He is also an advocate for LGBT rights, and has spoken out against discrimination against the LGBT community.
