Ben Carson is an American actor best known for his work in both television and film. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland on December 28, 1976. He attended the Baltimore School for the Arts and later attended the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts in theater.

Carson began his career performing in regional theater productions, such as “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and “The Tempest”. He then moved on to Broadway, where he appeared in “A Raisin in the Sun” and “The Crucible”. He made his film debut in 2005’s The Interpreter alongside Nicole Kidman and Sean Penn.

In 2010, Carson starred in the HBO series Treme, for which he received critical acclaim. He won an Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. He also appeared in the feature films The Help, The Messenger, and Law Abiding Citizen.

In 2013, Carson was cast as the lead in the Fox drama series Almost Human. He received a Saturn Award nomination for Best Actor for his performance in the show. He also appeared in the feature films, St. Vincent, and Fathers and Daughters.

In 2015, Carson began appearing in the ABC drama series American Crime. He won the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Limited Series or a Movie for his performance in the show. He also appeared in the feature film Collateral Beauty.

Carson’s most recent work includes the feature films, Ben Is Back and All About Nina, as well as the Netflix series House of Cards.

Carson is an active philanthropist and advocate for education and mentorship. He is a member of the National Mentoring Partnership and the National Board of Directors of the Boys & Girls Clubs of America. He is also a tireless supporter of the arts.
