Béla Fleck is an American banjo virtuoso and composer who is widely considered to be one of the most innovative and influential musicians in modern history. Born on July 10, 1958 in New York City, Fleck was raised in a family of classical musicians and began playing the banjo at the age of 15. His career has spanned almost five decades, during which time he has released over 30 albums and has earned 15 Grammy Awards, the most of any instrumentalist in history.

Throughout his career, Fleck has explored a wide range of musical styles, including bluegrass, jazz, classical, folk, world music, and even pop. He has collaborated with such artists as Dave Matthews, Edgar Meyer, and Chris Thile, and has performed with the New York Philharmonic, the London Symphony Orchestra, and the Boston Pops. He is also the leader of his own band, Béla Fleck and the Flecktones, who have released nine albums to date.
