Barry Greenhouse is an actor, director and writer best known for his work in the theatre world, as well as his appearances in television and film.

Born in Chicago, Illinois, Greenhouse moved to New York City to pursue a career in acting and directing. He studied at the Juilliard School, and after graduating in 1979, he began his career as a theatre actor. He has since appeared in multiple productions on and off Broadway, most notably in the musicals The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas and A Chorus Line.

Greenhouse is also known for his work in television, appearing in shows like Law & Order, Third Watch, The Good Wife, and Chicago Fire. His film credits include roles in the movies The Producers, The Stepford Wives, and The Holiday.

Greenhouse has also had success as a director, and has directed for both the stage and the screen. His directing credits include the plays The Normal Heart and The Life, as well as the television movie Two Small Voices.

Greenhouse is also a writer, and has written several plays and musicals, including Clutter, which was performed at the New York Musical Festival in 2010.

Greenhouse has won numerous awards for his work in theatre, including the Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Director of a Play for The Life, and the Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Director of a Musical for The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas.
