Barry Dodds is a British actor, writer, and comedian best known for his roles in the BBC Three sitcom ‘Trollied’, alongside his appearances on shows such as ‘8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown’ and ‘Live at the Apollo’. He is also the creator of the award-winning podcast ‘The Reel Good Show’.
Barry was born in Stourbridge, West Midlands, and grew up in the nearby town of Bridgnorth. From a young age, he was passionate about performing and was always making people laugh. After completing his A-Levels, he decided to pursue a career in acting and went on to attend drama school in London.
After graduating, Barry quickly started to land roles in television and film. He made his television debut in the BBC Three sitcom ‘Trollied’ in 2013, playing the role of ‘Dave’ for two series. He then went on to appear in other television shows such as ‘8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown’, ‘Live at the Apollo’, ‘Mock the Week’, ‘Would I Lie to You?’ and ‘The Last Leg’.
In 2015, Barry created the award-winning comedy podcast ‘The Reel Good Show’, which he still hosts to this day. The show has featured guests such as Eddie Izzard, Katherine Ryan, and Richard Ayoade. Barry also wrote and starred in the short film ‘The Date’, which was nominated for the BAFTA Cymru Award for Best Short Film.
Barry is well known for his quick wit and improvisational skills. He is a regular on the stand-up comedy circuit and has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and the Latitude Festival. He also hosts his own comedy night in London called ‘Barry Dodds and Friends’.
Barry is currently working on a number of exciting projects, including a new series for the BBC. He is also developing a feature film and a sitcom for Sky One. He is an ambassador for the charity ‘Kids in Need’ and is often involved in fundraising events.
