Barry Conrad is an American film director and producer who has been making feature films since 1984. He is best known for his work as the director of the cult classic comedy "Far Out Man" (1990).

Barry Conrad was born in 1964 in Los Angeles, California. He attended the University of California Santa Cruz where he studied film and graduated with a degree in Film and Video Production in 1984. Immediately after graduating he began working in the film industry, first as a production assistant and then as a production coordinator.

In 1986, Barry Conrad wrote and directed his first feature film, "The Electric Banana". The film received positive reviews and was a success in the independent film market. From there, he went on to direct "Seduction of the Innocent" (1988), "Far Out Man" (1990) and "The NeverEnding Story III" (1994). These films all had various levels of success, but it was "Far Out Man" that really put Barry Conrad on the map. The film was a cult classic and established Barry Conrad as a director to watch.

In the mid 1990s, Barry Conrad moved away from feature films and began to focus on television directing. He directed episodes of popular television shows such as "Beverly Hills, 90210", "Friends" and "ER". He also worked on music videos for popular artists such as Janet Jackson and Madonna.

In the 2000s, Barry Conrad returned to feature films. He directed "The Man Who Knew Too Little" (2002) and "The Last Mimzy" (2007). Both films had moderate success at the box office.
