Ashok Prasad is an acclaimed Indian director and producer best known for his work in the Indian film industry. Born in the city of Cuttack in Odisha in the year 1961, Ashok was naturally inclined towards the performing arts from an early age.

He started his professional career at the age of 19, when he became an assistant director with noted filmmaker Prakash Jha. He then went on to direct his first feature film in the year 1982, titled Ghar Ghar Ki Kahani. The film was well-received by the critics, and it opened the door to a successful directorial career for Prasad.

Prasad went on to direct a number of critically acclaimed films, including the award-winning films Aashirwad (1992) and Jaan Tere Naam (1993). His other notable works include Hum Hain Rahi Pyar Ke (1993), Krantiveer (1994), Tere Naam (2003), and Dil Bole Hadippa! (2009).

Apart from his directing career, Prasad is also a successful producer. He has produced a number of successful films such as Baghban (2003), Chup Chup Ke (2006), and Do Knot Disturb (2009).

Throughout his career, Prasad has been honored with numerous awards. He has won the Best Director Award at the National Film Awards for his film Aashirwad (1992). He has also won the Filmfare Award for Best Director for his film Krantiveer (1994).

In addition to his film career, Prasad is also a successful theater director. He has directed many plays, such as Pighla Aasman (1986), Choti Maa (1989), and Baat Ban Jaye (2006).

Prasad is currently working on his upcoming film, titled Bajrangi Bhaijaan. The film is slated for a 2015 release.
