Antony Byrne is an English actor, director, and writer best known for his roles in television, film, and theatre. He has appeared in a variety of TV series and films, including the BAFTA-nominated "The Last Kingdom", "Peaky Blinders", "Ripper Street" and "Vikings". He has also starred in films such as "In the Heart of the Sea", "The Other Boleyn Girl" and "The Snowman".

Byrne was born in Liverpool in 1969 and trained at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. He began his professional career in the theatre, appearing in productions such as "The Taming of the Shrew" and "Romeo and Juliet". He also appeared in the West End production of "Fever Pitch".

Byrne's television career began in the early 1990s with roles in shows such as "The Bill". He had a recurring role in the BBC drama "The Jury" and also appeared in the mini-series "The Virgin Queen". He was a series regular in the Sky 1 series "Dream Team" and had a recurring role in the ITV drama "Midsomer Murders".

In 2008, Byrne starred in the BAFTA-nominated miniseries "The Last Kingdom". This was followed by roles in "Peaky Blinders", "Ripper Street" and "Vikings". He also appeared in the films "In the Heart of the Sea" (2015) and "The Other Boleyn Girl" (2008).

In addition to his acting career, Byrne has also written and directed for the stage. He wrote and directed the play "A World Elsewhere" which premiered in London in 2015. He also wrote and directed the short film "The Meeting" which premiered at the London Independent Film Festival in 2016.

Byrne is an active member of the Royal Shakespeare Company and has acted in numerous productions with the company, including "The Tempest" and "Hamlet". He is also a patron of the charity Barnardo's, which works to support vulnerable children.
