Anthony Kiedis is an American musician, singer, songwriter, and actor. He is best known as the lead vocalist of the band Red Hot Chili Peppers. Kiedis was born on November 1, 1962, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, to Margaret "Peggy" Idema and John Michael Kiedis. He moved to Los Angeles at the age of 11 and attended Fairfax High School, where he formed the band Red Hot Chili Peppers in 1983.

Kiedis is a multi-instrumentalist, playing guitar, bass, and percussion instruments. He has also written and co-written several songs on the band's albums. Kiedis is a prolific lyricist, and has written lyrics for many of the band's songs. His lyrics often focus on personal experiences and observations, as well as political and social issues.
