Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker (born 1960) is a Belgian choreographer, dancer, and teacher. She is the founder of Rosas, a dance company which she founded in 1983. She has created many internationally acclaimed works that have been performed all over the world.

De Keersmaeker was born in 1960 in Mechelen, Belgium. Raised in a musical family, she began taking dance classes at the age of 8. She attended the Royal Ballet School of Antwerp and later studied at The Mudra School in Brussels. After completing her studies, she danced with various contemporary dance companies in Europe.

In 1983, De Keersmaeker founded the dance company Rosas, which has since become well-known for its innovative and experimental works. Her early works include Fase (1982), Rosas danst Rosas (1983), and Elégie (1985). She also choreographed for the opera, including Mozart’s The Magic Flute (1999).

In the 2000s, De Keersmaeker created a number of critically acclaimed works. These include Drumming (1998), Rain (2001), and Vortex Temporum (2013). Her works often feature music by composers such as Steve Reich and Claude Vivier.

In addition to her work as a choreographer, De Keersmaeker is also a teacher and mentor. She has taught at the School for New Dance Development in Amsterdam since 2000, and has also taught at the Dance Academy of Amsterdam.

De Keersmaeker is a respected figure in the world of contemporary dance. She has received numerous awards, including the Bessie Award (1998), the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at the Venice Biennale (2005), and the Samuel H. Scripps American Dance Festival Award (2008).

De Keersmaeker’s works have been praised for their creativity and originality. Through her innovative choreography, she has been an inspiration for many dancers and choreographers around the world. She continues to create new works and to teach and mentor young dancers.
