Angelo Guglielmo is an Italian-American film and television director, producer, and writer. He began his career in the entertainment industry as a production assistant for the Italian television network RAI before making the transition to directing. He is best known for his work on the critically acclaimed drama series “Gomorrah” and the Netflix Original series “Luna Nera”.
Born in Italy, Angelo Guglielmo moved to Los Angeles in 2004 to pursue a career in film and television. He began as a production assistant on the set of the hit Italian television series “Un Posto al Sole” and quickly rose through the ranks to become a director. In 2010, he directed his first feature film “L’Amore Nella Città” which won the Nastro d’Argento for Best New Director.
In 2013, Angelo made his mark on the international film industry when he directed the first two episodes of the popular Italian mafia drama “Gomorrah”. His work on the show garnered him an International Emmy nomination for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series. In 2019, Angelo was tapped to direct the Netflix Original series “Luna Nera”. The show follows a 17th-century Italian village that is divided by a mysterious supernatural force. Angelo was praised for his work on the show, which was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series.
Angelo has also directed episodes of the hit series “The OA” and “The Sinner”, as well as the feature film “Chiamatemi Francesco”. He is currently in pre-production on his next feature film, a crime drama set in the United States.
