Andrew Rutajit is an American director, producer, and actor. Born in Los Angeles in 1982, he began his career as an actor, appearing in productions of the Los Angeles Theatre Center and other regional theaters. His early work earned him a nomination for Best Actor from the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle.

In 2002, Rutajit made the transition to directing, writing, and producing with his short film, "The Pact." The film earned him multiple awards, including a student Academy Award and the Best Film Award at the Los Angeles International Short Film Festival. This early success led to Rutajit's first feature film, "The Extraordinary Adventures of Adele Blanc-Sec," based on the French comic book series. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival and was released in the U.S. in 2010.

Rutajit's next project was the independent feature "The East," which premiered at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival. In 2014, he wrote, produced, and directed the critically acclaimed "Jupiter Ascending," starring Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis. His work on the film earned him a Saturn Award nomination for Best Director.

Rutajit's other feature films include "The Legend of Tarzan" (2016), "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets" (2017), and "The Nutcracker and the Four Realms" (2018). He also directed the television series "The Last Man on Earth" and the Netflix special "The Little Prince."

Rutajit is a passionate advocate for diversity in filmmaking and has spoken out in favor of increasing representation of people of color in Hollywood. He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and was recently honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
