Andreas Köpke is a German actor, best known for his roles in the television series In aller Freundschaft and the film The Wave.

Köpke was born on August 7, 1964 in Dresden, Germany. He studied German Literature and Theater at the University of Halle-Wittenberg, and later joined the Staatstheater in Darmstadt. While in Darmstadt, he had his first major role in a major production, playing the title role in the 1983 adaptation of William Shakespeare’s Richard III.

In the late 1990s, Köpke began to appear in numerous television shows, most notably in the long-running medical drama In aller Freundschaft (“In All Friendship”). In this series, he has played the role of Dr. Anton Waldmann since 1998.

In 2008, Köpke made his feature film debut in the German drama The Wave. In this film, he plays the lead role of Rainer Wenger, a high school teacher who begins to experiment with fascism in his classroom as a social experiment. This role earned him an award for Best Actor at the 2009 Bavarian Film Awards.

Köpke has since appeared in several other films, including the 2012 romantic comedy What a Man, as well as the 2015 drama Phoenix. He has also appeared in numerous television shows, including the police drama Tatort and the comedy series Stromberg.

In addition to his acting career, Köpke is also an accomplished musician. He has released two albums, On My Own and The Best of Andreas Köpke, and he has also performed live at various concerts.

Köpke is married to fellow actress Heike Makatsch, with whom he has a daughter. In his spare time, he enjoys painting and playing the saxophone.
