André Schürrle is a German professional footballer who plays as a forward for Dortmund and the German national team. He began his career with Mainz 05 of the Bundesliga in 2009, before transferring to Chelsea in 2013. He then moved to Wolfsburg in 2015, Borussia Dortmund in 2016, and Spartak Moscow in 2020.

Born on 6 November 1990 in Ludwigshafen, Germany, André Schürrle began playing football at an early age. He began his youth career with local club Ludwigshafener SC before joining Mainz 05 in 2005. Schürrle quickly made an impression and was promoted to the senior team in 2009. He scored 16 goals in his first season with the club and was named the league’s ‘young player of the year.’

In June 2013, Schürrle signed a five-year contract with Chelsea for a reported €20 million. In his first season, he scored 11 goals in all competitions and was a key part of the team that won the Premier League title. He also won the 2013–14 UEFA Champions League with Chelsea, scoring the second goal in the final against Bayern Munich.

In February 2015, Schürrle joined Wolfsburg on a five-year deal for a reported €30 million. He scored 23 goals in 79 appearances for Wolfsburg and won the DFB-Pokal in 2015. He also helped Wolfsburg to the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals in 2016.

In 2016, Schürrle returned to the Bundesliga, signing with Borussia Dortmund on a four-year deal for a reported €30 million. In his first season, he scored seven goals in all competitions and helped Dortmund to the UEFA Europa League quarter-finals. He has since become an important part of the team, helping them to the DFB-Pokal and DFL-Supercup titles in 2019.

In February 2020, Schürrle moved to Russian Premier League side Spartak Moscow. He has since made nine appearances for the club, scoring two goals.

At international level, Schürrle has represented Germany at the Under-16, Under-17, Under-19, Under-21, and senior levels. He was part of the German team that won the 2014 FIFA World Cup, scoring the winning goal in the final against Argentina. He also won the UEFA European Under-21 Championship in 2009 and the FIFA Confederations Cup in 2017.
