Amos Mac is an award-winning writer, photographer, and transgender rights advocate. Born in Oakland, California, in 1985, Mac has dedicated his life to advocating for transgender and gender non-conforming people.

Mac attended the University of California, Berkeley, where he earned a degree in English literature. After college, he began working as an editor at the queer-focused magazine, Original Plumbing. He eventually became the magazine’s editor-in-chief, using the platform to bring visibility to the transgender community.

In 2009, Mac launched the photography and zine series, Translady Fanzine. The series documented the lives of transgender women, and it was the first of its kind to be published in the United States.
