Amar Nboukar Haj Selam is a Tunisian actor, director, and playwright. Born in Tunis in 1967, he began his career in the theater in 1986. Since then, he has become one of the most prolific and influential theater artists in Tunisia.

Haj Selam's theatrical works often revolve around social and political issues, such as the role of women in Tunisian society. His productions have been presented all over the world, from the Festival of Carthage to the Edinburgh International Festival of the Arts. His plays often feature strong female characters, such as in his 2004 drama “The Women of Kasserine,” which was performed in Tunisia and abroad.
