BIO

Alyx Duncan is an award-winning director and producer with a background in film and television. She is best known for her work on documentaries, short films, and feature films.

Alyx Duncan was born and raised in the Bay Area of California. She attended the University of California, Los Angeles, where she majored in film and television production. After graduating, she worked as an assistant director, editor, and production assistant for various television shows and feature films.

In 2013, Alyx directed her first feature film, The Inevitable Defeat of Mister & Pete, which starred Jennifer Hudson and Jordin Sparks. The film was a critical success and won several awards, including the Grand Jury Prize at the 2013 Los Angeles Film Festival.

Alyx has since gone on to direct and produce numerous award-winning documentaries, including The Unloved, which was released in 2018. The film follows the journey of a group of homeless teenagers in San Francisco who are struggling to survive. The film won several awards, including Best Documentary Feature at the 2018 SXSW Film Festival.

Alyx has also directed and produced several short films, including The Birthday Girls, a comedy about two women who try to find the perfect birthday present for each other. The film was an official selection of the 2017 Sundance Film Festival.

Alyx has been honored with several awards, including the Emerging Filmmaker Award from the San Francisco International Film Festival and the Emerging Artist Award from the San Francisco Independent Film Festival.

Alyx continues to direct and produce films that explore meaningful topics and tell stories of hope and resilience. She is also an advocate for diversity and inclusion in the film industry, and is a mentor to emerging filmmakers.
