Alysha Umphress is an American actress, singer, and songwriter who has been performing on stage since the age of five. She is best known for her roles in the Broadway musicals On the Town and American Idiot, as well as her appearances on television shows such as Smash, 30 Rock, and Law & Order: Criminal Intent.

Alysha was born in East Brunswick, New Jersey, and began her performing career at a young age. She starred in her first musical, Anything Goes, at age five, and by the time she graduated from high school she had already appeared in numerous productions. After high school, she attended the University of Michigan where she studied theater and music.

In 2009, Alysha appeared in the Off-Broadway production of Everyday Rapture, which earned her a Drama Desk Award nomination for Best Featured Actress in a Musical. That same year, she made her Broadway debut in the revival of On the Town, and later played the role of Whatsername in the Broadway production of American Idiot.

Alysha then went on to appear in a number of television shows, including two episodes of Law & Order: Criminal Intent, and a recurring role on the TV series Smash. She had a guest starring role on 30 Rock and appeared in the films Pitch Perfect and Pitch Perfect 2. She also had a guest role in the television series The Good Wife.

In addition to her acting work, Alysha is also an accomplished singer and songwriter. She has released two solo albums, and is currently working on her third. She released the EP, “The Way I See It” in 2016, and her first full-length album, “Unforgettable” in 2017.
